FAQ
Q1: What ballistic level would I be protected to e.g. bullet, knife, needle etc?

A1: This depends on the threat the wearer will face. All of Aegis products have been certified to worldwide standards including UK HOSDB products to defeat ballistic, stab and spike threats.


Aegis can also design armour systems perceivable to your requirement


Q2: What area of my body will be covered?

A2: Aegis supply front and back panels which have been designed to protect the vital organs of your body. We can also supply further options to upgrade the level of protection including areas such as: collar, throat, groin, sleeves etc, with a design capability of manufacturing and designing panels that will cover any part of the body.


Q3: Is the garment flameproof, waterproof etc?

A3: Aegis can provide carriers in a wide range of colours and fabrics which can include waterproof, flameproof, petrol shedding treatments, to name a few. Aegis expert technical design team can offer advice to customers with regards to the fabric that is best suited to operating requirements.


Q4: Is the system heavy? How heavy?

A4: The weight of ballistic armour varies depending on protection level and the size of the wearer.
For instance, standard HOSDB HG1A ballistic protection for a medium sized male would weigh around 1.3kg, which would only protect against ballistic weapons. Whilst dual purpose HG1/KR2/SP2 ballistic vest would weigh around 2.7kg for a medium sized male but the protection offered would be increased to ballistic, stab and spike weapons protection.


Q5: How long can I wear it? All day?

A5: Body armour can be worn for 24 hours a day, depending on the wearers needs.


Q6: Is the garment washable?

A6: The carriers are washable as long as all of the ballistic panels are removed and the garment is washed in accordance with the wash instructions provided.


Q7: Does the armour come with a guarantee, if so, how long?

A7: Our ballistic armour panels come with a minimum of 5 years guarantee, which can be extended through a revalidation process. The outer garment comes with a minimum of a 1 year warranty against manufacture defect.


Q8: How do I know it’s the right size? Are there any wearing instructions provided?

A8: The garment should fit snugly around the wearer and is adjustable to body shape. A full set of instructions are provided with each carrier.


Q9: Can I get an upgrade level to a higher protection?

A9: Aegis can provide upgrade armour panels to protect against a range of threats including rifle and other high energy projectiles.


Q10: What would be the impact on the system if I was to be shot or stabbed?

A10: The system would have to be replaced as repeated damage to critical areas would place the wearer at risk. The wearer should also retain the armour, which may be required in support of an investigation.
