Aegis is delighted to announce the formation of a unique partnership between itself and Liverpool John Moores University.
For some time Aegis has been working with its key suppliers in recognition of the fact that in the future body armour needs to offer to all wearers greater levels of performance in areas of flexibility, comfort and heat management; to reduce negative factors casuing discomfort, physical limitation and emotional stress.
John Moores University has an outstanding reputation with athletes and leading sporting brands for the development of products which contribute to improved performance of wearers up to and including Olympic athletes.
Athletes, as with body armour wearers, suffer from intense periods of activity including exposure to 'performance negatives' as a result of poor product design, inappropriate textiles and constructions, weight and heat.
Our unique relationship will give us shared access to quantifiable scientific data and the ability to test garments under aggressive environmental circumstances at variable levels of physical intensity. Results will also be capable of translation to include the effect of structural limitations upon wearers of body armour systems.
We hope that you will welcome this development as it supports our continuous improvement programme which will result in better body armour systems in support of those who protect us.
This Partnership received financial support from the Knowledge Transfer Partnerships programme (KTP). KTP aims to help businesses to improve their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge, technology and skills that reside within the UK Knowledge Base. KTP is funded by the Technology Strategy Board along with the other government funding organisations.
